My approach to website design

"How much does a website cost?" is usually the first question I'm asked - to which the honest (but rather unhelpful) answer is, "It depends."

Put simply, a website with only a few pages, an off-the-peg template and no fancy features is a lot easier - and therefore cheaper - to build than a multi-page website with a complex file structure, a tailor-made template and sophisticated design elements.

That's why I approach the problem from a different angle, by finding out the answers to two questions of my own:

  • Why do you want a website?
  • What would you like it to do?

That way, I can get a better picture of the amount and complexity of work involved, and give you a clear idea of how much it will cost to design and build a website that will meet your specific needs.

You will find further guidance on these pages about the different types of website that are available, my design process and costs - including how to keep your costs down!

If this approach appeals to you, please feel free to contact me to discuss your requirements in more detail.
